Nicole & Murray’s At Home Marquee Wedding at Home
In September, Nicole and Murray celebrated their wedding in the most personal way possible - at Murray’s family home in Surrey. Following a heartfelt ceremony at St Mary’s Church in West Horsley, guests were welcomed back to the house and gardens for an elegant marquee celebration with spectacular views across the Surrey countryside.
A WARM WELCOME
The day began on the upper terrace, where guests enjoyed a champagne and canapé reception. To reflect the couple’s love of travel, we brought in a Spanish influence with a Serrano ham station, aged manchego with truffle honey, Pan con Tomate, Marcella black pudding scotch eggs, flame-grilled red pepper tortilla, and manzanilla olives. Aperol Spritz quickly became the cocktail of choice as Gecko’s roaming band created a joyful atmosphere.

THE MARQUEE AND DESIGN
On the lower lawns, a bespoke Jospeh Benjamin Marquee was set against the Georgian-style home and gardens. The design brief was modern, colourful, and fun, curated around a palette of blues and pinks.
The inspiration came from a bold Annika Reed Studio print, which became the foundation of the design. This was woven into the stationery by Aisling Erin Designs and featured on menus, escort cards, and the standout bespoke bar, complete with coordinating lampshades. Emma Soulsby Florals softened the look with smilax foliage, and her florals made a spectacular first impression at the marquee entrance with a large, natural installation guiding guests inside.
Once in the marquee, guests were met with vibrant floral designs at every level, perfectly complementing the joyful brief. Soft furnishings by House of Furn and elegant dining furniture by Be Seated created a stylish yet welcoming setting.

A FEAST OF MEMORIES
Caper & Berry designed a bespoke menu inspired by Nicole and Murray’s favourite travel memories. Guests dined on:
Starter: Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli with parmesan velour, toasted pine nuts, and olive oil
Main: Buttermilk Fried Chicken with pressed potato terrine, chicken truffle jus, rainbow slaw, and corn — a nod to the couple’s American adventures
Dessert: Apple Tart Tatin with vanilla pod ice cream, tuile, salted caramel, and Maldon sea salt
As evening fell, a Mexican food truck treated guests to a variety of tacos before the party really began.

THE PARTY
The transition to the evening was marked by the cutting of a spectacular Hall of Cakes creation, paired with cocktails and live roaming sax from LDN Entertainment — setting the tone for a night of celebration. Espresso Martinis and Margaritas kept the energy high as guests danced beneath an extra-large disco ball and starlit ceiling in the blackout nightclub space we created within the marquee.
Luminaire provided all production, lighting, and bespoke bar design, creating seamless transitions from day to night.

Nicole looked radiant in her Halfpenny London gown, with hair and makeup by Chloe GH Bridal, while Forever Curious and The Curries beautifully captured the day on film and photography.
KIND WORDS
“Susie planned the day of our dreams this summer! When we decided on an at-home marquee wedding we knew we had to recruit help — and Susie was the best decision we made in the process. Susie was calm, creative, so present and available for us and went above and beyond to deliver. We so appreciated Susie’s advice on where to spend & where to save (many others encouraged much higher spending!).
Most importantly, the day felt totally ours — Susie’s creativity elevated our ideas but she didn’t have a fixed aesthetic that we had to achieve. It was such a personal process and we appreciate that so much. Susie spent time getting to know us and our priorities for the day and “got it”!
Having Susie on hand meant that Murray and I could totally enjoy the full run up to the wedding and the day itself. All recommended suppliers were excellent.
Thank you so so much Susie for all you did & we couldn’t recommend you to other couples more xx”
